Indisputably, Highlife music, “Borboorbor”, Adowa, others are the heartbeat of Ghana music. Simply put, Ghanaians gave birth to the above-mentioned genres.
Therefore, there’s the need for our musicians to put strategic measures in place to protect and develop rapidly the indigenous music genres. But someway somehow, the contemporary musicians have failed to do so.
As a result, it’s no surprise that Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, a renowned Ghanaian artiste and self-proclaimed originator of Hiplife, has expressed worry about the degenerating nature of Ghana’s indigenous music.
